Ground-Based Support for Emotional Growth, Confidence & Connection

Equine therapy, also known as equine-assisted wellness, is a guided experience where individuals work with horses to support emotional growth, self-awareness, confidence, trust, and regulation. At Nirvana Equestrian, therapy sessions are ground-based, meaning there is no riding involved.

Sessions may include:

  • Grooming and caring for the horse

  • Leading, observing, and connecting with the horse

  • Mindfulness, grounding, and reflection exercises

A thoughtfully Guided Wellness Experience

Our equine therapy and wellness program is supported by a board-certified psychologist Catherine Cook-Cottone, Ph.D. along with Samantha Bonano, certified equine therapist. This allows each session to be thoughtfully structured, trauma-informed, emotionally safe, and supportive.

Horses are highly sensitive to human emotion and energy. Because they respond honestly and immediately, they can help participants recognize emotional patterns, improve communication, build trust, and develop self-regulation skills in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Equine therapy can be especially helpful for individuals who may struggle with traditional talk-based approaches or who benefit from experiential learning.

This program may support:

  • Children and teens

  • Adults

  • Veterans

  • Individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, or life transitions

  • Those looking to build confidence and emotional awareness

  • Participants seeking connection, grounding, and personal growth
