Our Story
Nirvana Equestrian started as a dream of mine, but it became something I built with my children. I started riding when I was eight years old. Horses were never just a hobby for me—they were where I felt most at home. My dad used to joke that if he let me, I would have lived at the barn. And like so many kids who love horses, I dreamed of having them at home one day. That dream stayed with me. As a teenager, I passed a house every day on the way to school that had an indoor arena attached to the barn, with horses right outside their door. I remember thinking, this is it—this is everything I want someday. Years later, after building a career and raising my family, I found myself coming back to that same question:
What really matters?
What do I want my life—and my children’s lives—to feel like?
So I did something bold.
I left a note in the mailbox of that same house.
Within weeks, we had an agreement to buy it. At the time, we had just one horse—Storm—and a completely different life in the suburbs. But together, my children and I made the decision to change everything. We left behind our quarter-acre life in Williamsville and stepped into something unknown: a farm, a barn, and a vision we would have to build from the ground up. None of us fully knew what we were stepping into. And that’s what made it so meaningful. My children didn’t just grow up around Nirvana—they built it. They learned how to care for horses, how to manage a barn, and how to show up every day whether it was easy or not. They learned what hard work really looks like—feeding, cleaning, lifting, fixing, and figuring things out as we went. They learned responsibility. They learned resilience. And most importantly, we learned it all together.
A place built by my children and me
Some of my favorite memories aren’t the big milestones—they’re the everyday moments.
Early mornings in the barn. Long days outside. Laughing through things that didn’t go as planned. Figuring it out as a family. In the process, we didn’t just build a farm—we found a different way of living. One that brought us closer, grounded us, and reminded us what matters. Of course, the horses had their own plans for us too. What started as a quiet vision for trail riding quickly grew as my children found their own paths. Kai discovered a passion for the hunter/jumper world, and Kamden became a world Champion on his part-bred Friesian. Watching them grow—not just as riders, but as people—has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. Their success in the show ring was incredible, but what mattered most was who they were becoming along the way. That’s when I realized this wasn’t just something for us.It was something we could share.
An Experience we can share
In 2025, I began teaching riding lessons and we launched our first horse camp. What started small quickly grew into a community. I fell in love with teaching—helping riders build confidence, connection, and trust through horses in the same way my children had. From there, Nirvana continued to evolve. We created space for adults to reconnect with horses, and expanded into programs focused on healing, growth, and connection. Everything we’ve built continues to be grounded in the same foundation we started with: family, hard work, and the partnership between horse and human. Today, Nirvana Equestrian is still, at its heart, a family story. It’s a place built by my children and me—through long days, hard work, and a shared belief in something bigger. It’s a place where others can come to grow, connect, and experience that same sense of purpose and belonging. And it’s still just the beginning.
